With Lambeth sweltering in a record breaking heatwave, the council are asking for volunteers to give the street trees a bit of watery love.
All you need to do is pour some water into the green bags around the base of the tree’s trunk, and that will really help our leafy chums survive this blazing heat.
How to water street trees
Here’s a clip from last year giving advice on how to serve up the much needed H2O:
Note: When watering newly planted local street trees residents can use grey water, including water from washing up, bath water or from a paddling pool. It doesn’t need to be fresh out of the tap because trees can filter the water they need.
To help the trees, pour the water into the green bags at the bottom of the trees, or directly into the ground.
