Kenya Airways Passenger dies onboard after chaos during flight from Nairobi to Lagos
A man was reported dead aboard a Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi to Lagos in the night of Tuesday, the 6th of October 2026

An airline passenger, a man, died aboard the Kenya Airways plane which was traveling from Nairobi heading for Lagos, Nigeria.
The Kenya Airways (KQ) management has confirmed that on Tuesday, 06 October 2026, their flight from Nairobi to Lagos experienced a medical emergency on board at night, around 21:20 hours local Nigerian time.
“One of our passengers was found to be unresponsive approximately 20 minutes before landing in Lagos,” reads the statement from Kenya Airways.
According to the airline report, their crew administered first aid as per their training and followed all the required emergency procedures, during the fateful flight,
Upon landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, at 21:41 hours the KQ aircraft was met by medical personnel.
However, it seems after further examination, the medical personnel at the Lagos terminal confirmed that the passenger had already passed away.
“We convey our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and apologize for any inconvenience this incident may have caused,” Kenya Airways maintained.
“We uphold and respect the privacy and dignity for all involved,” the airline management added.
They added that Kenya Airways was providing the necessary support in close coordination with the deceased’s family, local authorities, and aviation regulators.
Now, according to videos and reports being shared online by Nigerians who were onboard, the male passenger reportedly died aboard a Kenya Airways flight after allegedly becoming aggressive. (See the Video Below)
The passenger, who previously looked healthy and energetic, reportedly attempted several times to open the cabin door while the aircraft was flying in mid-air.
Witnesses said fellow travelers and crew members worked hard to restrain the passenger after the incident.
More reports reveal that the male passenger who was struggling died shortly afterwards.
Questions remain regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.
It also remains unclear what exactly drove the man to become aggressive onboard.
It is also not known what he said during his attempt to throw open the cabin door midair.
On the other hand, Kenya Airways, apart from confirming his death, has not spoken about the previous incident aboard their Nigeria-bound aircraft.
