Kitara Football Club and Vipers Sports Club played to a goal-less draw during the first semi-final leg in the 2025-26 Stanbic Uganda Cup at the Royal Park, Butema in Hoima on Sunday, 3rd May 2026.

The hosts got close to scoring as early as the 5th minute when forward Patrick Henry Kaddu distant effort was saved by goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu who was equal to the task.

Midfielder Gaddafi Wahabu Sibira was also denied by goalie Kiggundu with a long range low drive on the half hour mark.

Vipers had a forced change in the 43rd minute when skipper Milton Karisa was stretchered off for Joseph Marvin Youngman.

Karisa suffered an injury following a nasty tackle from Kitara captain Jasper Aheebwa.

At the start of the second half, George Senkaaba was replaced by Mohammed Shaban.

The visitors’ best chance of the half fell to Yunus Junior Sentamu when his shot off the left foot from an acute angle was well saved by goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige.

Vipers called for double change moments after the hour mark with Kevin DaSylva and Gusto Mulongo replacing Sentamu and Enock Ssebagala respectively.

The visitors’ left back Derrick Ndahiiro got cautioned for a foul on Senoga in the 63rd minute.

Kitara too called a double change with 20 minutes to play. Gadaffi Wahabu and Jimmy Kalema paved way for Frank “Zagga” Tumwesigye and Living Kabon respectively.

Kiggundu was also called upon to tip over a threatening shot from Kabon. Vipers introduced Nigerian winger Odili Chukwuma for Beyuku with 8 minutes to play.

Kabon was once again denied by Kiggundu from a free-kick as the minute ticked away.

There was no further threat from the two sides and the contest will definitely be determined during the return leg at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende in a few days’ time.

Meanwhile, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and Sports Club Villa tussle in the first leg of the second semi-final at Hamz stadium (Nakivubo War Memorial stadium) on Monday, 4th May 2026.
