Mbarara City will rue the chance missed in moving steps far from the relegation monster after squandering a two-goal lead against Maroons on Tuesday.
In the game played at Rwamwanja Stadium,the Ankole Lions led 2-0 at halftime courtesy of Clinton Kamugisha’s brace.
Kamugisha opened the scores in the 14th minute with Thomas Kakaire setting him up. The pair also combined for the second goal.
In the second half, Maroons returned recharged and it was former Mbarara City player Marvin Oshaba who ignited the comeback, pulling one back in the 53rd minute before Dickson Niwamanya levelled matters twelve minutes from time.
The result means Mbarara City remain 14th on the pile with 17 points, just two ahead of the red line while Maroons move to ninth place on 30 points.
