Labour minister Immanuel intervenes at Beifang Mining

The labour ministry has intervened at Beifang Mining Services following employees’ complaints about their working conditions, labour rights and alleged non-compliance with the Labour Act.

Minister of justice and labour relations Wise Immanuel on Friday led a delegation during a session with workers at Swakopmund in an effort to strengthen labour relations.

He stressed the importance of registered trade unions in representing workers and advancing their interests through lawful collective bargaining processes.

“The ministry’s role is to regulate labour relations, promote compliance with labour laws, safeguard fair labour practices and facilitate harmonious workplace relations,” he said.

Following the employee engagement, a high-level meeting with Beifang Mining Services management took place to discuss the workers’ concerns.

The ministry said the discussions focused on labour law compliance, conditions of employment, workplace relations and mechanisms for resolving grievances in line with the Labour Act.

Immanuel said sustainable productivity and industrial harmony can only be achieved when employers and employees operate within a framework of mutual respect, compliance with labour legislation and constructive social dialogue.
