Manhunt launched after two minors murdered on Free State farm
Police launch manhunt for a 19-year-old suspect following the murder of two minors.
Free State police have launched a manhunt following the alleged murder of two brothers on a farm outside Harrismith.
The boys, aged 9 and 14, were allegedly attacked and severely assaulted by a known suspect for reasons still unknown. They were found near the door of their home with their hands and mouths tied with cloth.
The 14-year-old was declared dead at the scene, while his younger brother was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Police spokesperson Mmako Mophiring says the motive for the double murder is still unknown and investigations are continuing.
Mophiring says, “The police managed to arrest one suspect who is not so much linked to the incident. It is because he was found with what would be trousers that belonged to one of the deceased that was blood stained. He is under questioning at this moment. So, we request members of the community who might know this suspect that is known to the family and known to the people at Toekoms Farm area of Harrismith. He is a 19-year-old boy and still at large.”
