MES Gauteng is collecting cupcake ingredients as the organisation prepares to celebrate 40 years of supporting and uplifting vulnerable communities across South Africa.
Cape Town, South Africa (10 May 2026) – After nearly four decades of working to uplift vulnerable communities across South Africa’s inner cities, MES is preparing to celebrate a major milestone, and they are inviting the community to help make it a little sweeter.
The non-profit organisation, which has been serving communities in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Gqeberha and Kempton Park since 1986, will celebrate its 40th birthday later this month, and as part of the celebration, MES Gauteng hopes to bake hundreds of cupcakes for the occasion and is now calling on the public to assist with ingredient donations.
The organisation is currently collecting baking essentials needed to make between 200 and 400 cupcakes for the event, with every donation set to play a part in marking the meaningful occasion.
Over the years, MES has become known for its work in addressing poverty and homelessness through social development programmes, support services and community partnerships aimed at creating pathways towards sustainable change.
Now, as the organisation reflects on 40 years of impact, supporters have an opportunity to contribute to a celebration focused on community, gratitude and togetherness.
In a message shared online, MES Gauteng thanked members of the public for helping them commemorate the milestone.
“Every contribution, big or small, will be greatly appreciated,” the organisation said.

For MES, the celebration is not only about looking back on four decades of service, but also about bringing people together around a shared spirit of care, hope and community support.
