Michells Pass on R46 between Wolseley and Ceres reopened
It had been closed after the collapse of the road due to the recent heavy storms in the W Cape.
Western Cape Disaster Management says Michells Pass, located on the R46 Road between Wolseley and Ceres in the Western Cape, has been reopened.
Provincial Disaster Management Head, Colin Deiner, says all major routes are open to traffic in Beaufort West.
He says the Drew low water bridge and the R317 Rooibrug in Bonnievale remains closed.
Deiner says the provincial Department of Infrastructure is still assessing other roads.
“The Bainskloof Pass between Wellington and Worcester remain closed due to total road collapse. The R43, 5km before the Michell Pass, had been closed due to total road collapse. Provincial officers are manning all critical points where infrastructure damage occurred. Together with our partners we are still providing humanitarian assistance to farms across the province that have been affected.”
