Millet triumph in Meat Masters tapeball cricket

The Meat Masters T20 Veterans tournament produced another exciting game on Tuesday, May 12, with Millet and Combined Veterans setting a new match record by scoring over 500 runs. Millet won by nine wickets at the Balata Playing Field.

Combined Vets powered their way to 250-7, thanks to a brilliant knock of 118 from Doonath Singh, before he was dismissed in the 19th over. Clinton Jn Jacques added 78. Avitus James, Aloysius Charles, Kimrol Charles, Xavier Gabriel, Quintin Joseph, and Jona Donovan took a wicket each.

Millet needed just 15 overs to surpass the target, consistently clearing the boundary en route to 251-1. Man of the match Xavier Gabriel slammed an unbeaten 145. Kimrol Charles made 39, and Jona Donavan finished on 41 not out.

Earlier in the week, Balata Crusaders defeated Labayee by 63 runs. Noel Gaspard scored 59 in Balata’s total of 200 for 8, while Julius Simon led Labayee with 48. Babonneau Minibus also defeated Combined Veterans by 46 runs, scoring 252 for 3 with fifties from Mario Gittens, Shem Alexander, and Alvin Lafeuille.

Millet’s win on Tuesday was their second in the tournament. Last week, they beat United Raiders by seven wickets. Raiders scored 142 for 6, but Millet reached the target in just nine overs, losing only three wickets. Xavier Gabriel scored 79.
