On Thursday, 20 August 2026, Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA) launched the 150kW Legacy Fund at a viewing session for Khuli Chana’s docu-series in Clearwater, Johannesburg. This is a new pillar of the brand’s community commitment, built on a simple idea: everyone deserves the power to find their next.
The fund takes its name and target from Mitsubishi Motors iconic Triton Bi-Turbo, with 150kW of output, translating to R150 000 to be shared among three deserving charities this year. Through the fund, MMSA aims to identify deserving charities, communities, and individuals who need “150kW” of power to change their future.
The Mitsubishi Motors 150kW Legacy Fund is the first initiative of its kind for the automotive company and draws inspiration from one of Mitsubishi Motors’ most iconic symbols of capability and the belief that real power is measured by the impact it has on others.
“At Mitsubishi Motors, we’ve always believed that power means nothing if it isn’t shared. It felt right to put that same energy behind the people and communities working to build something better,” says Lerato Nonyane, General Manager: Product & Marketing at MMSA. “The 150kW Legacy Fund is our way of making sure that power reaches further than the road.”
Launching alongside Khuli Chana’s docu-series
The fund was officially launched at a special viewing session timed to coincide with Khuli Chana’s ‘What’s Next’ docu-series. The series finds and celebrates South Africans who have reinvented themselves and motivate others to do the same, a fitting backdrop for a fund built around the idea that 150kW is the moment you step into your next.
“Reinvention takes power, and that’s exactly what this fund is about — giving people and communities the push they need to discover their next,” says Khuli Chana. “The episode we viewed yesterday, featuring Mo Molemi, will be available on my YouTube channel at noon on Monday, 24 August”.
Guests at the exclusive viewing enjoyed the docu-series’ first episode, featuring Mo Molemi, Khuli Chana’s fellow Morafe band member. The event was attended by industry friends, with Mpho Maboi serving as MC.
