NPO registers criminal complaint against IDAC head Johnson

None Profit Organisation (NPO) Public Interest SA says it has formally registered a criminal complaint against the Head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Advocate Andrea Johnson.

In a statement, Public Interest SA says the complaint has been lodged with the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation at its headquarters in Pretoria, under the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act.

The complaint arises from Johnson’s admitted participation in an interview and selection process involving her spouse, while she was serving in the Directorate for Special Operations, the “Scorpions” where the spouse was subsequently appointed.

Public Interest SA says the lodging of a criminal complaint does not constitute a finding of guilt.

However, the step has been taken to ensure that the matter is subjected to an independent investigation by competent law enforcement authorities.

The organisation says it remains steadfast in its commitment to ethical governance, accountability, where credible allegations of misconduct should be subjected to proper legal scrutiny.
