New Distribution Arm “Bigger Motion” Set to Bring African Stories to Screens and Communities Worldwide
This unveiling took place at the recently concluded 2025 NBO Film Festival, which ran from 16–26 October in Nairobi, Kenya.
Bigger Motion emerges as an offshoot of the distribution wing of LBx Africa, a Nairobi-based production company offering film production services across the East African region. Established in 2012, LBx Africa is led by Creative Producer Bramwel Iro and Director/Producer Sam Soko.
Bigger Motion will oversee the acquisition and distribution of African titles across multiple channels, including cinemas, regional festivals, streaming platforms, broadcast television, in-flight entertainment, and impact pathways.
“Visibility without access isn’t enough… We’re building a distribution ecosystem that brings African cinema home, into Cinemas, festivals, living rooms, classrooms, and community spaces, so these stories can spark connection, pride, and change where they matter most“, stated Chloe Genga, who was named Head of Distribution and Impact at the new production company.
Bigger Motion’s launch slate includes four feature titles, all of which screened at the NBO Film Festival:
- How To Build A Library (Kenya, 2025) – directed by Maia Lekow and Christopher King
- Khartoum (Sudan, 2025) -directed by Anas Saeed, Rawia Alhag, Ibrahim Snoopy Ahmad, Timeea Mohamed Ahmed, and Philip Cox
- Matabeleland (Zimbabwe, 2024) – directed by Nyasha Kadandara
- The Shadow Scholars (2024) – directed by Eloise King
Following its launch, Bigger Motion plans to expand partnerships, develop new access initiatives across the continent, and grow its release slate. Information on distribution timelines and release strategies for each title will be announced soon.
