Over 1 000 arrested in Operation Shanela across West Rand, Gauteng
Gauteng police spokesperson says two unlicensed firearms and ammunition were recovered.
Gauteng police have arrested over 1 000 suspects during Operation Shanela on the West Rand over the weekend.
The suspects were arrested for a range of crimes, including driving under the influence of alcohol, drug possession and being found with gold-bearing material.
Ten undocumented immigrants were also apprehended.
Gauteng police spokesperson Tintswalo Sibeko says two unlicensed firearms and ammunition were recovered.
“In addition, two liquor outlets were closed for non-compliance with the regulations. Gauteng police remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents through ongoing crime prevention operations aimed at reducing crime and maintaining law and order across the province.”
