Police probe Athlone murder, attempted murder
Western Cape police are investigating a fatal shooting in Rylands Estate, Athlone.

Police in Cape Town are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 41-year-old man and left a woman injured in Rylands Estate, Athlone.
Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg says officers responded to reports of a shooting in Mohan Street on Sunday night.
The 41-year-old man was declared dead at the scene, while the injured woman was transported to a medical facility for treatment.
The motive for the attack is not yet known, and no arrests have been made.
Twigg says, “Police members responded to a complaint of a shooting and upon arrival on the scene they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies. The 41-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment. The motive for the attack is yet to be established. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. Athlone detectives are investigating murder and attempted murder cases.”
