Saint Lucia concluded their Concacaf Under-20 Men’s Qualifiers with a last-gasp loss to the British Virgin Islands, despite having taken the lead early in the second half.
Playing on the final matchday in Group C on Tuesday, March 3, at Complejo Deportivo FCRF-Plycem in San Rafael de Alajuela, Costa Rica, the young Piton Boyz got the go-ahead goal in the 47th minute from Kallis Mondesir.
The lead lasted only eight minutes, however, as Jaadon Quashie evened the contest in the 55th minute. The game remained level until six minutes from time, when Quashie popped up again to seal a 2-1 win, the first for BVI in Costa Rica.
Saint Lucia finished fourth in the five-team group, ahead of only Dominica, as BVI moved up to third. Antigua & Barbuda earned a 1-0 win over the Dominican Republic to win the group and advance to the 2026 Concacaf Under-20 Championship.
