The Saint Lucia Solid Waste Management Authority has issued an apology to residents in the Choiseul zone following recent disruptions in waste collection services.
In a press release dated January 6, 2026, the Authority acknowledged that operational challenges led to late or missed garbage pickups in some communities, resulting in an accumulation of waste. The agency said it recognised the inconvenience caused to residents and emphasised that immediate steps are being taken to address the situation.
According to the Authority, all available resources have been mobilised to restore collection services to normal as quickly as possible. As part of the recovery efforts, a cleanup intervention is scheduled to begin today, Wednesday, January 7, to address the backlog of uncollected waste.
Residents in the Choiseul zone are being encouraged to continue placing their waste out on their regular scheduled collection days while the Authority works to clear the accumulated refuse.
The release thanked the public for their patience and understanding.
