South Africa’s Kyle De Beer wins Rwanda Open title

The tournament offered a key opportunity for East African golfers to test themselves against top talent from across the continent and beyond.

South African golfer Kyle De Beer clinched the Sunshine Tour’s Rwanda Open title on Sunday at the Kigali Golf Resort & Villas.
De Beer shot an 8-under-par 64 in the final round to finish at 27-under 261. The performance gave him a comfortable victory in the four-day tournament.

The champion opened with a 6-under 66 on Thursday before posting rounds of 65 and 66 to take control of the leaderboard heading into the final round.

His compatriot Estiaan Conradie finished as the runner-up at 21-under par and six shots. Six players; Daniel Cronje, Allen John, Benjamin Kedochim, Travis Procter, Ryan van der Klis, and Cole Stevens, tied for third at 20-under.

Rwanda’s Celestin Nsanzuwera was the top East African performer, shooting a final-round 67 to tie for 25th at 14-under-par 274. Kenya’s Greg Snow tied for 35th at 12-under 276.

Among other regional players, Uganda’s Willy Deus Kitata finished tied for 50th at 6-under 282, while his compatriot Kasango Grace tied for 56th at 5-under 283.

Golfers from France, Germany, Australia, England, Chile, the Republic of Ireland, and Scotland also took part.
