The GTA appointed Liburd on 15 June 2025 following her tenure as Anguilla’s tourism director, where she led efforts to rebuild and reposition the destination following the COVID-19 pandemic.
She brought more than 15 years of experience in destination marketing, stakeholder engagement and sustainable tourism development to the role.
At the time of her appointment, Liburd said she looked forward to working with industry partners to elevate Grenada’s brand and ensure tourism delivered meaningful, sustainable benefits for its people.
During her tenure, she held responsibility for the authority’s executive management, destination marketing and stakeholder engagement functions for Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
‘Cherished memories’
Reflecting on her tenure, Liburd said: “Serving as chief executive officer of the Grenada Tourism Authority has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional career.
“While my time in Grenada has been immensely rewarding, it has also come at considerable personal sacrifice and after much reflection I have made the difficult decision to return home and focus on my family.”
The former CEO said she leaves the role “with immense pride” in what has been accomplished together in a relatively short period.
“I am grateful to have contributed to the continued growth and global positioning of this remarkable destination,” she said.
Liburd thanked the GTA, the Ministry of Tourism, industry partners, stakeholders and the people of Grenada for the warmth, collaboration and support extended to her throughout my tenure.
“The passion and commitment of those who serve this industry every day give me every confidence that Grenada’s tourism sector will continue to thrive,” she said.
“I leave with cherished memories, lasting friendships and deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve this beautiful nation.
“It has truly been an honour, and I will continue to celebrate and support Grenada wherever my journey leads.”
In the press release, the board of directors thanked her for her service and extended its best wishes for continued success in her future endeavours.
Tourism career
Liburd has extensive experience in the tourism industry across the Caribbean.
Before her tenure as director of tourism in Anguilla, she held senior marketing roles at several high-end resorts and tourism operators.
Her earlier career included positions at Zemi Beach House, Long Bay Villas, Santosha Estate and Tranquility Beach Anguilla.
She also served as business development manager at Calypso Charters, where she expanded corporate accounts and led training initiatives.
Her leadership at the Anguilla Tourist Board was marked by a focus on rebuilding and repositioning the destination after the COVID-19 pandemic.
She served as a member of the board of directors where she chaired the marketing committee before being appointed as director of tourism in January 2021 by then tourism minister Haydn Hughes.
At the time, Hughes described her in a press release as someone who had “our confidence and support as we forge ahead”.
Anguilla Tourist Board chair Kenroy Herbert called her “a creative tourism marketer and a results-oriented manager”.
