Steph Curry Reveals Scary Eye Condition Diagnosis Amid Golden State Warriors Dynasty
In a recent exclusive with People, Curry revealed that at the height of his Warriors dynasty, with two championships, he was having problems with his eyesight.

Steph Curry has led a championship-caliber Golden State Warriors team for close to two decades, no exaggeration.
His sharp-shooting skills and ability to make logo threes look like routine layups have always been impressive, but now he’s given a concrete reason he’s the best shooter the league has ever seen.
In a recent exclusive with People, Curry revealed that at the height of his Warriors dynasty, with two championships under his belt against the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015 and 2017, he was having problems with his eyesight.
“It was 2018, and I didn’t know I was really dealing with crazy blurred vision or distorted images — it was just the way that I saw things, and we compensated around it,” he remembers.
But one day, Warriors general manager Bob Myers watched a broadcast of the game and told Curry something that motivated him to see an eye doctor.
“He texted me after the game because apparently the telecast kept showing me when I was on the bench, and he was like, ‘You’re just squinting, looking like you couldn’t see anything. Have you gotten your eyes checked? You should probably go do that because that wasn’t normal,’” Curry said.
It turns out Myers was right, and an optometrist visit revealed his blurred vision wasn’t normal.
Curry revealed, “They told me that I had a rare condition called Keratoconus, the irregular-shaped cornea that obviously leads to blurriness, distorted images. What I found out about it was it’s a progressive condition that can deteriorate your vision over time, and it’s irreversible if it goes in the wrong direction.”
Now, he’s on a treatment plan and special contacts to keep the condition at bay.
He admits that he was stubborn about the condition at first, but after being given actionable items, he was focused on “wearing the contacts, finding the right fit and the right prescription, ones that stayed stable while I was playing.”
The correction has given him more peace of mind, and he says it hasn’t actually made his shooting better, but “it just gives me a little bit more energy knowing I can see.”
So yeah, Curry winning two titles with an untreated eye condition is impressive, and he’s even joked that after retiring he’ll title his memoir The Whole Time I Couldn’t See.
The four-time champion encourages everyone to get routine eye exams and seek help if something doesn’t seem right.
