Telecom Namibia Restores Services After External Connectivity Failure Impacts Network

Telecom Namibia  has informed its valued customers and the general public that parts of its network experienced temporary service disruptions over the past few days due to technical issues affecting international connectivity.

The disruption was caused by a failure on external connectivity routes, which increased pressure on alternative pathways within the network. As a result, some customers experienced slower internet speeds, as well as intermittent access to mobile data and browsing services.

Following detection of the issue, Telecom Namibia’s technical teams responded immediately and have been working continuously to stabilise services and reduce customer impact. The company confirmed that several corrective actions have already been completed, while additional network enhancements are ongoing to fully restore normal performance and improve long-term resilience.

Key interventions include rerouting traffic to maintain service continuity, upgrading and reconfiguring critical network infrastructure, and increasing capacity at major network nodes to strengthen overall stability.

Telecom Namibia noted that services are now steadily improving as restoration efforts progress. Customers are expected to experience continued improvements as optimisation work is completed across the affected systems.

The company also reiterated its commitment to network reliability and acknowledged the inconvenience caused during the disruption, stating that efforts are ongoing to further strengthen infrastructure and reduce the likelihood of similar incidents in the future.
