By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The tropical wave flagged in Tuesday’s outlook has arrived on schedule, crossing Belize today with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms for mostly southern and central areas, and a small craft caution in effect for the country’s waters.
According to the National Meteorological Service, moist and relatively unstable conditions prevail over the country. Skies will be sunny with cloudy spells today and generally cloudy tonight. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms will affect mostly southern and central areas today, gradually decreasing, then tonight, activity will be isolated with a few more showers over the Toledo District.
The seas carry the day’s main caution. A small craft caution is in effect, warning of gusty winds and locally rough seas near heavy showers and thunderstorms. Winds will blow from the east at 10 to 20 knots, with choppy conditions and waves of 3 to 5 feet. Operators of small crafts should exercise caution.
The cloud cover trims the heat slightly. Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) and a low of 82 (28 Celsius). Inland areas will climb to 93 degrees Fahrenheit (33 Celsius) before dropping to 74 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 Celsius) and a low of 68 (20 Celsius).
On the tropical front, the reassurance holds firm. Tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the region over the next 48 hours, so the wave is weather, not worry.
Looking ahead to Thursday and Thursday night, skies turn partly cloudy with isolated showers or thunderstorms, and a few more over Toledo at nighttime, as the pattern settles behind the wave.
Today’s low tides are at 9:16 AM and 8:31 PM, with a high tide at 3:11 PM and another high at 2:42 AM tomorrow. The sun rose at 5:33 AM and will set at 6:23 PM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Crystal Rosalez.
