Dee Freeman, the television actress whose nearly three-decade career included
roles on The “Young and the Restless” and Tyler Perry’s “Sistas,” died last
Thursday after a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis. She was 66.
Her publicist confirmed she died from complications related to lung cancer. In a
family statement shared on Instagram, loved ones said Freeman “passed away
peacefully… after a brave and fearless fight with cancer.”
The Louisiana native made her TV debut in 1995 on ABC’s “Coach” and went on
to appear in hit series including “Seinfeld,” “ER,” “The X-Files,” “Dexter,”
“Shameless” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.” Before her acting career, Freeman served
six years in the United States Marine Corps.
