Uganda Cranes draw Tunisia, Libya & Botswana in AFCON PAMOJA 2027 Qualifiers

Uganda national football team (The Cranes) have been drawn in Group H of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The co-hosts for the championship face North Africans Tunisia and Libya as well as Botswana.

Uganda, who will co-host the tournament alongside Kenya and Tanzania, have already secured automatic qualification for the finals.

However, the Cranes will still participate in the qualifying campaign as part of their preparations for the historic tournament.

The draw presents Uganda with an opportunity to test themselves against quality opposition. Tunisia are among Africa’s most experienced sides, while Libya and Botswana have both shown steady improvement in recent years.

Because Uganda are guaranteed a place in the finals as hosts, only one of the remaining teams in Group H will qualify for the tournament.

The qualification matches will be played across three FIFA international windows between September 2026 and March 2027.

For head coach Paul Put, the fixtures will offer a valuable chance to assess his squad, integrate emerging talent and fine-tune the team ahead of the continental showpiece.

Off the pitch, Uganda continues preparations to host the tournament, with renovation works ongoing at Mandela National Stadium and construction of Hoima City Stadium progressing as part of the country’s infrastructure plan.

The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, branded AFCON Pamoja, will run from 19 June to 17 July 2027 and will mark the first time the competition is jointly hosted by three East African nations.
