By Zoila Palma: The University of Belize (UB), through its Energy Office, is hosting a 3-day Electric Vehicles and Battery Technology Workshop, facilitated by The University of the West Indies and funded by The Federal Republic of Germany.
UB explained that the hands-on workshop provides participants with practical exposure to electric vehicle systems, battery technology, maintenance, safety, and emerging innovations. It is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among students, professionals, and stakeholders in engineering, environmental science, business, and public policy.
“As Belize advances toward cleaner energy solutions and greater climate resilience, initiatives like this position the University of Belize at the forefront of the technologies shaping the future of transportation and sustainable development,” UB said.
UB says that this initiative reflects UB’s commitment to innovation, research, and workforce development while supporting national priorities in renewable energy, environmental sustainability, and technological advancement.
