UPL MATCH DAY 24: Two Key talking points

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League enters a crucial moment with each fixture holding a lot of weight.

The top four are aiming to remain ruthless in respect to hunting for maximum points while the bottom sides are looking at survival.

Here are the TWO major talking points to look at going into match day twenty-four.

Title fight meets survival

In this match day, three of the four title contenders lock horns with sides fighting to survive.

Table leaders Vipers take on second from bottom Buhimba United Saints at Butema looking to bounce back from two stalemates. On the other hand, the Saints want redemption to keep survival hopes alive and climb out of the relegation zone.

It will be nearly same for Kitara who host rejuvenated Calvary at the same venue on Wednesday.

The Royals are wounded after losing to KCCA and earlier dropping points in the draw with Vipers which has seen them drop from second to third.

Record winners SC Villa who revived title hopes with two good results and performances against rivals KCCA and Vipers will be away to Lugazi whose recent results have seen them remain in the relegation dogfight.

The encounter at Najjembe will be vital for either in keeping their season objectives alive.

Renewal of acquaintances at Bugonga, Nakivubo

For second placed KCCA, a date with Entebbe UPPC is more than three points in the race but also bragging rights.

The hosts won the reverse fixture at Lugogo and repeating same would-be disaster for the Kasasiro who targeting an end to seven years of title drought.

In the hosts corner, Abdallah Mubiru leads the charge with ex-KCCA players Mustaffa Mujjuzi, Julius Poloto, Steven Munguchi, Isa Mubiru and Eric Ssenjobe (doubtful) all having a score to settle.

The story will be the same at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo when NEC visits Express on Wednesday.

Former Red Eagles boss Badru Kaddu leads a group that has Richard Basangwa, Muhamad Ssenoga, Hakim Wandera, Rashid Kawawa and Ramsey Kawooya who all played for Express as recent as the first round.

NEC are unbeaten in 16 matches in all competitions while Express have discovered form with three wins in as many matches.
