US, Nigeria carry out fresh strikes on Islamic State group
The United States and Nigeria carried out air strikes against Islamic State group targets in northeastern Nigeria on Sunday. The region faces the double threat of attacks from jihadist groups and from criminal gangs that carry out kidnappings, including one that resulted in the abduction of 46 people, most of them children, on Friday.
