*The first teaser trailer for “Verity” has officially arrived, offering an early glimpse into the psychological tension behind the upcoming literary adaptation. Backed by Amazon MGM Studios, the film brings Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel to the big screen with a cast led by Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson.
Set for a theatrical release on October 2, 2026, the film centers on a layered and unsettling narrative. Hathaway takes on the role of Verity Crawford, a successful author whose life becomes the focus of a deeply personal and disturbing discovery. Johnson portrays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who is brought in to to ghostwrite for Verity. As Lowen settles into the secluded Crawford estate, she uncovers a series of autobiographical writings that reveal troubling and intimate details about Verity’s life and her relationship with her husband Jeremy, played by Josh Hartnett.
As the story unfolds, Lowen is forced to confront the blurred boundaries between truth and fiction. The material she discovers raises questions about manipulation, attraction, and obsession, creating an atmosphere where motives become increasingly difficult to interpret.
The film is directed by Michael Showalter, with a screenplay by Nick Antosca. Production credits include Antosca, Alex Hedlund, Stacey Sher, Showalter, Jordana Mollick, Hathaway, and Hoover, while Johnson also serves as an executive producer alongside Kerry Orent and Lauren Levine.
