The arts and culture fraternity, and by extension the wider Saint Lucian community, is mourning the death of veteran mas player Dylan Pitcairn, a distinguished bandleader and outstanding costume designer.

Pitcairn captured numerous Carnival titles for his mas portrayals and earned repeated success in the King and Queen of the Bands competition over the years. He was also a composer, writing songs for some of the island’s leading calypsonians.

In March, during the launch of Lucian Carnival, Pitcairn was among four individuals honoured and recognised by the Carnival Planning and Management Committee as Carnival Legends, receiving a token of appreciation for his invaluable contribution to the festival.
