*Veteran actor Ving Rhames gave his family and fans a scare Wednesday when he collapsed while dining at a Los Angeles restaurant, though he was released from the hospital later that evening, TMZ reports.
The 66-year-old went down at Granville, located on Magnolia Boulevard in North Hollywood, while having a meal with his family on April 29. Eyewitnesses reported that Rhames was in and out of consciousness in the moments following the incident. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that paramedics responded and Emergency crews transported him to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
In a statement, Rhames’ manager, Brad Kramer, said the episode was likely tied to overheating. Rhames was kept for observation before doctors cleared him to leave, Variety reports. “He sounded like everyday Ving and cracked a joke over the phone,” Kramer told the outlet. The manager confirmed Rhames felt fine and was heading home Wednesday night.

As word of Rhames’ collapse spread, fans flooded social media with messages of support. “No please! I wish him the fastest recovery,” one user wrote on X, per Daily Mail. Another called him a “real legend,” adding, “Praying he recovers fully.” A third fan praised his decades of work, writing, “Wishing Ving Rhames a swift and full recovery. A powerhouse actor who’s delivered unforgettable performances for decades from Pulp Fiction to Mission: Impossible. Hoping it’s nothing serious.”
Rhames filmography stretches across decades. Beyond the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, he has also appeared in “Pulp Fiction” in 1994, “Bringing Out the Dead” in 1999, and “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2” in 2017.
Looking ahead, the actor has two notable projects in the pipeline. He is set to star opposite Liam Neeson and Marisa Tomei in “The Mongoose,” and will also appear in the upcoming film “Painter.”
