*Pushkin Industries has teamed up with W. Kamau Bell on a new weekly video podcast, and the premiere is just around the corner.
“Who’s With Me? with W. Kamau Bell” arrives on Wednesday, May 27, with a trailer already available for those who subscribe ahead of launch. The show draws its name from Bell’s Substack newsletter and carries that platform’s ethos into a new format.
“Who’s With Me? is one of the most basic and necessary questions you can ask in these hectic times,” Bell said, per Pushkin. “When everywhere we look it feels like the powers-that-be want to push us apart, I wanted to create a space where curiosity and empathy lead the way and conversations actually move us forward.”
Bell kicks off every episode with a solo segment reflecting on what is happening in the world around us. A guest conversation follows, and the comedian has assembled a wide-ranging roster of contributors. The list includes actors Delroy Lindo and Ted Danson, ballet pioneer Misty Copeland, Daveed Diggs, Robert Reich, Eddie Huang, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon, Nava Mau, Mo Willems, Maria Bamford, Kristen Kish, and Margaret Cho, among others.
For Bell, the podcast is also a personal mission. “I wanted the chance to give flowers to people I deeply admire who can offer real wisdom and actionable steps, homework, if you will, on how we can all do a little better and show up for each other a little more,” the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning TV host said.
