Water crisis to top Presidential Coordinating Council’s agenda

Tackling the country’s water crisis will top the agenda of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s meeting with relevant leaders from all three spheres of government at the Presidential Coordinating Council in Boksburg, on the East Rand, on Thursday morning.

Ramaphosa announced the establishment of the National Water Crisis Committee earlier this year in response to the ongoing water challenge.

Stakeholders, including premiers, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) MECs, mayors, municipal managers and traditional leaders will attend the meeting.

Presidential Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says, “The extended PCC meeting will discuss immediate interventions aimed at stabilising the system, while adopting short to long-term sustainability instruments to ensure infrastructure resilience, improved governance and a culture of accountability founded on promoting responsible water use among citizens.”
