A nationwide programme dedicated to Black Cinema …

Film exhibition company We Are Parable is taking its acclaimed programming beyond London with a brand-new regional screenings campaign that celebrates culture, creativity, and identity.

Launching this winter, the campaign, called “We Are Here“, is supported by the BFI Audience Projects Fund. The initiative will travel to Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, and Leicester, showcasing exclusive preview screenings of Dreamers, the bold directorial debut from celebrated producer Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor (Blue StoryRocksBoxing Day).

Running until March 2026, the wider programme will feature additional titles and events as part of We Are Parable’s continued commitment to bringing bold, culturally resonant Black cinema experiences to audiences across the UK.

The campaign will unite audiences, filmmakers, and local creatives through a series of screenings, Q&A panels, and special events that celebrate Black cinema and storytelling, building lasting connections between audiences and the stories often overlooked on screen.

Known for transforming film exhibition into full-scale cultural experiences, We Are Here will blend cinema with community celebration. Each city will host immersive screenings enhanced by live discussions, collaborations with local artists, and opportunities for audiences to engage directly with cast members, filmmakers, and regional talent.

We’ve always believed that audiences across the UK deserve the same access to powerful, thought-provoking film experiences. ‘WE ARE HERE’ is the opportunity to take Black cinema to communities that have been underrepresented in traditional distribution, and create spaces where audiences see themselves, their culture, and their dreams reflected on screen”, said Carmen Thompson, Head of Distribution & Special Projects at We Are Parable.

In keeping with We Are Parable’s ethos,“Experience Over Everything” these events will blur the line between film and community celebration, inviting audiences to explore what it means to dream, create, and belong.

The regional screenings will be at the following venues:

  • Birmingham – Mockingbird Cinema, Saturday 29th November, 5.30pm
  • Leicester – Phoenix Cinema, Monday 1st December, 6.00pm
  • Manchester – HOME, Tuesday, 2nd December, 6.00pm
  • Bristol – Watershed Cinema, Wednesday, 3rd December, 6.00pm

Together, these regions form a powerful backdrop for a campaign that celebrates the future of Black British cinema and the communities that sustain it.

Each stop of the tour will offer immersive film experiences, combining screenings of DREAMERS and additional titles alongside post-screening Q&As, community panels, live music, and collaborations with local Black-owned businesses and cultural organisations.

Tickets are now available on the cinema official pages and via the We Are Parable website.
