No Place Like Home: Alzarri Joseph Joins Antigua and Barbuda Falcons

West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph will suit up for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons during this year’s Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 set to start August 7th.

The Antiguan joins the Falcons after being drafted by the franchise during the recent player draft. Joseph, who played for the St Lucia Kings for the past five years, joins fellow Antiguans, Rahkeem Cornwall and Karima Gore in the squad.

Speaking on the Good Morning Jojo Sports Show, Joseph said there is no place like home, vowing to bring his A-game to the Falcons who reached the final four in last year’s tournament.

“I’m going to bring some energy. Obviously, I have a couple of West Indian fast bowlers with me as well and we all would know the conditions in the Caribbean, so I’m hoping that we can all exploit that and use the conditions to our advantage. With myself, Rahkeem and Karima in the team, I think that the 12th man this year is going to be very important to help push the team forward,” he said.

“It’s always good playing at home. All the support’s going to be there. The familiarity of playing at the sir Vivian Richards Stadium is going to be there. I think this year should be really good from what I’m seeing so far. The team looks pretty balanced as well,” he added.

On May 15th, the seven teams confirmed the West Indian players who will form part of their squads for the 2026 tournament.

The Falcons have also signed the hugely experienced Evin Lewis, who leaves the Patriots after more than a decade with the St Kitts & Nevis franchise. The Falcons used RMOs (Right to Match) to re-sign Fabian Allen, Jayden Seales and Amir Jangoo. They have also brought back Shamar Springer.

Admitting he was a bit surprised when the move was initiated, Joseph said he is hoping to capitalize on the move home.

“At the end of the day, I’m happy to be at home. Secondly, they probably had other plans so, you never know what this is when it comes to franchise cricket, so it’s totally out of my control. At the end of the day, I’m really happy to be playing in Antigua this year and it’s up to me now to capitalize on this opportunity. I think marketing is very important so I think the earlier that I get on top of that and also the Falcons get on top of the marketing side of it and not wait until a week or two weeks before the games, then I think that would be very lucrative for both parties,” the player said.

The Antigua and Barbuda Falcons will open their campaign on August 7th against debutants Jamaica Kingsmen at the Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent.
