28-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Dennery Highway Crash as Road Safety Concerns Intensify

A 28-year-old motorcyclist has died following a collision along the La Caye Highway in Dennery, adding to growing concerns over road safety in Saint Lucia.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) confirmed that officers attached to the Richfond Police Station responded to reports of a vehicular accident around 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Preliminary investigations revealed that a motorcycle and a motor vehicle collided along the highway.

Police said the sole rider of the motorcycle, identified as 28-year-old Lenus Alphonse of Belair, Castries, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Dennery Hospital for medical treatment. However, officers were later informed by medical personnel that Alphonse succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the medical facility.

The incident has once again placed focus on road safety and the increasing number of serious traffic accidents across the island. In the aftermath of the fatal crash, the Department of Road Safety and Traffic Investigations urged motorists to exercise greater caution on the nation’s roads and comply with traffic laws governing vehicle operation and road usage.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are continuing.
