48 Hours: U.S.-Iran Ceasefire on the Brink

(AURN News) — The clock is running out as the two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran is set to expire Wednesday, with no deal in sight.

President Donald Trump says Vice President JD Vance is heading to Pakistan to lead a second round of talks alongside envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

But Iran has not confirmed it will send anyone to the table. Tehran is calling the U.S. naval blockade of its ports a ceasefire violation and a “war crime,” and says it will not negotiate under those conditions.

The Strait of Hormuz remains blocked. Iran shut it down again after the U.S. refused to lift its blockade. As of now, 23 ships have been turned away.

Over the weekend, the U.S. Navy seized an Iranian cargo ship after firing on its engine. Iran sent drones toward American vessels in response.

Trump is also threatening to destroy Iranian power plants and bridges if no agreement is reached by Wednesday.
