By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 39-year-old man was remanded to the Belize Central Prison after he was allegedly caught in Hattieville with a tool kit containing a grinder.
Wilfred Dixon appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded not guilty to a charge of going equipped to commit burglary or theft.
Police allege that at approximately 4:50 a.m. on Monday, July 13, officers on mobile patrol saw Dixon inside a yard near the football field on Locario Street with a tool kit in his hand.
When an officer called out to him, Dixon allegedly ran. Police later caught up with him near Mile 16 on the George Price Highway, where he reportedly threw the rectangular tool kit into a nearby drain.
Officers retrieved the kit, which was marked “Skil,” and found a black grinder inside. Dixon reportedly told police that he had found the kit.
During his arraignment, Dixon maintained that he found the tool kit behind Sibun and was taking it to a friend.
“I nuh guilty because I nuh thief it. I found it dah Sibun,” Dixon told the court.
The Chief Magistrate offered Dixon bail in the sum of $800, plus one surety of the same amount. However, Dixon, who said he had no fixed address or relative available to assist him, was unable to post bail before the close of court and was remanded until he can do so.
His next court appearance is scheduled for September 16, 2026.
