Age U.K. response to Windrush manifesto
Here is the statement in response to Action for Race Equality’s - Manifesto for Windrush Justice released recently.
Caroline Abrahams, Charity Director at Age UK said:
“The Manifesto for Windrush Justice, is a timely call for urgent reforms, to establish a more just system and repair the enduring harm caused by this Home Office scandal. It also reminds us of the vital contributions made by all those who were invited to Britain to help rebuild our country after the Second World War.
“At Age UK we are clear that with political will, the Windrush Compensation Scheme could be made much fairer and easier to access. The next Government needs to act quickly before it’s too late, and more people go to their graves uncompensated for the huge damage they and their families have experienced through the years.”
“The older people caught up in the Windrush Scandal have given their working lives to our country, many doing essential work in the NHS and other public services. It’s high time everyone affected received the justice they are due.”
