AmaZulu thump Chippa United 5-1 to strengthen top-four spot
AmaZulu have now collected 42 points after 26 matches.
AmaZulu came from behind to beat relegation threatened Chippa United 5-1 at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Usuthu registered their 12th win of the season to cement their place in fourth spot on the Betway Premiership. AmaZulu have now collected 42 points after 26 matches.
Chippa are still fourth from the bottom after their 12th loss of the season, with only four games remaining.
Azola Matrose broke the deadlock and put Chippa in the lead after a brilliant strike on the edge of the box giving keeper Olwethu Mzimela no chance. But the game took a dramatic turn shortly afterwards.
Athini Maqokolo found the equaliser for AmaZulu, nine minutes later. Then midfielder Siphamandla Zikhali put Usuthu in the lead on the stroke of half-time after a defensive blunder.
Maqokolo found his brace and made it 3-1 in the 74th minute. Then substitute Thapelo Matlhoko made it 4-1 eleven minutes from time.
Another substitute Thabiso Kutumela put the final nail in the coffin to make it 5-1 for AmaZulu.
