Excitement is building as the nation’s top athletes prepare to battle for supremacy at the National Athletics Championships, set for Sunday, June 21, at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium.
The spotlight will undoubtedly shine on the highly anticipated 100-metre finals, the event traditionally used to crown the fastest man and fastest woman in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Will one of the pre-race favourites live up to expectations, or will an emerging star spring a surprise and capture national glory? Athletics fans will have to be at the stadium to find out.
Among the leading contenders in the men’s 100 metres are:
Royden Peetes, who has already posted a season-best time of 10.54 seconds.
Shamarie Newton also boasts a best time of 10.54 seconds this season.
Chesson Liburd, who enters the championships with an impressive 10.49-second performance.
