Avianca Is Adding More Flights to Guatemala With New San Francisco Service, Extra Los Angeles Frequencies, and Expanded West Coast Access

Avianca is expanding its footprint between the United States and Central America, adding a new route from San Francisco to Guatemala City and increasing service out of Southern California.

The airline will launch four weekly flights from San Francisco International Airport to La Aurora International Airport beginning in July, creating a new nonstop link between Northern California and Guatemala.

At the same time, Avianca is adding an additional weekly frequency from Los Angeles to Guatemala City, strengthening one of its most consistent West Coast routes.

What The New San Francisco Flights Mean

The addition of San Francisco marks a meaningful expansion for Avianca on the U.S. West Coast.

Until now, nonstop access to Guatemala from California has been concentrated primarily in Los Angeles. The new San Francisco–Guatemala City route, operating four times weekly, opens up a second major gateway and gives travelers in Northern California a direct option without needing to connect through Southern California or other hubs.

It’s a practical shift. Travelers based in the Bay Area — and across Northern California — now have a closer departure point and a more streamlined route into Guatemala.

Expanded Los Angeles Service

Avianca is also adding capacity where demand already exists.

The airline will operate an additional weekly flight between Los Angeles International Airport and Guatemala City, increasing frequency on a route that has long been one of the busiest links between the U.S. and Central America.
