HIGHLANDERS’ coach Benjani Mwaruwari could not hide his excitement Sunday after playing to a 2-2 draw against Dynamos away at Rufaro Stadium in a league match.
The result saw the Bulawayo outfit, popularly known as “Bosso”, maintain its 10-year unbeaten feat against Dynamos in league games.
Although they ended up sharing the spoils, Highlanders could have walked away with three points, but they surrendered the lead twice.
Bosso went to the break leading 1-0 courtesy of Never Rauzhi, before Dynamos substitute Tellmore Pio equalised in the early minutes of the second half. The visitors then restored their lead in the 78th minute through Mongameli Tshuma.
Highlanders’ lead did not last long, as Dynamos defender Collins Mujuru scored Dembare’s equaliser in the 81st minute to seal the scoreline of the day at 2-2.
Despite blowing the chance of taking away all three points, Mwaruwari expressed happiness with his team.
“Yes, we could have won this game, but we are away. Also, I came late, so it’s understandable because we are still working on a number of issues, combinations and stuff.
“I am happy with the boys; they are doing well. We are scoring good goals, and taking a point against Dynamos is good,” he said.
Mwaruwari has recorded a good start at Highlanders. The former Manchester City striker started with a 1-0 win against Dynamos in the Jairos Jiri Charity Cup match last month, before opening his league campaign against Bulawayo Chiefs with a draw.
In the other match played on Sunday, new boys Agama FC lost 1-0 to Bulawayo Chiefs in a match played at Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamva.
