By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Prime Minister John Briceño is not stepping aside.
Putting an end to speculation about his political future, Briceño says he intends to lead the People’s United Party into the 2030 general election and seek a third term.
The Prime Minister says he is confident that both he and the PUP continue to enjoy the support of Belizeans.
Briceño first led the PUP to victory in 2020 and secured a second term in March 2025, when the party won 26 of the 31 electoral divisions.
His announcement signals that there will be no change at the top of the governing party any time soon.
