By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Corozal man was fined $30 after pleading guilty to drinking alcohol in public on Orange Street in Belize City.
Twenty-seven-year-old Alex Ronaldo Soler, a resident of the Altamira area of Corozal Town, appeared unrepresented in court and pleaded guilty to public drinking. He was fined $25, along with $5 in court costs.
Soler has until July 31, 2026, to pay the fine or serve one week in prison. The court informed him that the payment may also be made at the Corozal Magistrate’s Court.
According to the prosecution, Corporal Mario Chin was conducting foot patrol on Orange Street at around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, when he saw Soler walking toward Albert Street while drinking from a brown Belikin Stout bottle.
Police said Soler attempted to conceal the bottle when approached. The bottle, which reportedly still contained about half of its contents, was seized as evidence.
Soler was escorted to the Precinct One Police Station, where he was formally charged with drinking in public.
