Aspiring and established entrepreneurs can capitalise on the first edition of the Entrepreneurship Edge magazine by the Department of Youth Affairs (DYA), which operates under the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation.
The magazine comprises thirteen articles centred on emerging and seasoned entrepreneurs and professionals within various fields. It also captures highlights of the DYA’s Entrepreneurship Edge Programme and Expo over the past years.
The Director of Youth Affairs, Dr. Jrucilla Samuel, stated that the articles address topics ranging from Artificial Intelligence and the “Square Wheel Mentality” to the unvarnished realities of business ownership.
“The magazine is designed to inspire future entrepreneurs while offering practical guidance and encouragement to those navigating the daily complexities of business,” Dr. Samuel said.
The director also extended deep gratitude to the Sandals Foundation for its support in driving national development and empowering young people to pursue innovation and economic growth.
Dr. Samuel and the DYA staff presented the General Manager of Sandals Grande Antigua, David Latchimy, and Public Relations Manager, Leon Norville, with several copies of the Entrepreneurship Edge magazine on October 6, 2026.
“Sandals has always made it clear that its commitment is not only to supporting businesses, but also to investing in people with the potential to transform ideas into opportunities for themselves and others. We are delighted to be part of such a fruitful partnership,” the director remarked.
The Minister of Social and Urban Transformation, Rawdon Turner, asserted that this initiative, supported by the Sandals Foundation, “invests in human potential and shows the power of public-private collaboration. Through the Entrepreneurship Edge Programme and now this publication, we continue to cultivate a generation that sees itself not merely as job seekers, but as creators and leaders. It is a platform that amplifies the voices of entrepreneurs and reflects the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation’s vision for a nation built on empowerment and inclusive growth.”
Young entrepreneur Alissa Brazier noted, “The magazine brings together many of the lessons and insights we gained through the Entrepreneurship Edge Programme. Reading the stories of local entrepreneurs and professionals has motivated me to continue building my business despite the challenges.”
A 2026 participant of the Entrepreneurship Edge Programme, Ava Ralph, also expressed delight for the magazine. “What I appreciate most is that the articles are practical and relatable. They address real issues entrepreneurs face and provide fresh perspectives on topics such as innovation, resilience, and my favourite – the use of artificial intelligence in business.”
Another participant, Gale Hastings, said she learnt a lot about planning, public speaking, and how to move from the idea to the execution stage. The Entrepreneurship Edge Programme was an amazing experience, but it is good to capture content and have something to look back on. This magazine did just that. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to build on what I have learnt and reflect through this magazine.”
The Chief Implementation Officer within the Department of Youth Affairs, Avanti Gardner, emphasised that the Entrepreneurship Edge magazine serves as “a lasting resource, ensuring that valuable insights and practical knowledge remain accessible to participants of the Entrepreneurship Edge Programme, as well as aspiring and established entrepreneurs.”
Gardner indicated that the publication is particularly significant because it captures “authentic local experiences while exploring global trends, innovative ideas, and emerging opportunities within the entrepreneurial landscape.”
