*Druski is set to take the stage as host of the 2026 BET Awards on June 28, and ahead of the big night, he wasted no time putting the culture on notice with a preview video, Revolt reports.
The comedian and social media star opened the clip with a declaration of creative control. “I told BET, ‘If I’m hosting, we gon’ do this my way,'” he said, before delivering a firm set of expectations for anyone planning to attend. Jamie Foxx was first up — told to “take that big a** hat off.” Sexyy Red received a dress code reminder: “no leggings, rompers, or bodysuits. We don’t need no wrestlers. No wrestlers on the red carpet!”
The YNs (young ni**as) were instructed to ditch the ski masks, and megachurch pastors still stewing over his viral January skit got a message too. “Listen, I know y’all on my back right now. I been getting the DMs and the threats. Just leave it up to God,” Druski said.
BET’s executive vice president of specials, music programming and music strategy, Connie Orlando, spoke to the depth of Druski’s cultural impact.
“As one of the most exciting and influential comedic voices of his generation, Druski brings a unique ability to connect with audiences through humor that feels both fresh and deeply rooted in culture,” Orlando said in a statement, per USA Today. “As we prepare for this year’s BET Awards, we’re thrilled to have him bring his signature energy and perspective to the stage, helping set the tone for a night that celebrates the achievements and cultural impact of our community.”
Druski’s hosting gig carries a historic distinction. Billboard reports that he will claim the title of youngest BET Awards host in history, narrowly surpassing Kevin Hart, who was 31 when he hosted in 2011 — though the publication noted he was “closer to 32 than Druski is now.”
Druski addressed the milestone in a press statement. “It’s an honor to be the youngest host EVER for the BET Awards,” he said. “I grew up watching the BET Awards and — to know the comedic legends that hosted before me set the bar so high — I’m just grateful to be a part of the history. But I’m still bringing my brand of comedy to the stage, so expect a little chaos, a lot of laughs, and some of your favorite Druski characters to pop out along the way.”
The 2026 BET Awards air live on Sunday, June 8, at 8 p.m. ET.
