Feid’s ‘El Moco Verde’ & More: Vote for the Best New Latin Music Release This Week
Which new Latin music release is your favorite? Vote below!
This week, Billboard’s New Music Latin poll — curated with key recommendations by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — features a number of new songs and albums, including Feid’s El Moco Verde, Mon Laferte’s Femme Fatale Vol. 2, Gente de Zona and Juan Magan’s new single “Isla Viva” and more.
Released on Friday, June 12, Feid’s latest musical project, El Moco Verde (The Green Booger) is a mixtape rooted in the golden era of New York hip-hop. The five-song tracklist includes “Pienxa en Mi,” a collaboration with Italian rapper Sfera Ebbasta; while Spanish rapper Munic HB joins him on the second track, titled “They Already Know”; and fellow Colombian artist Granuja is on “Los Cuervos” and “50 Mil Piex.” On the project’s final song, “Recreo,” El Ferxxo delivers the only solo performance on the release.
Feid’s signature sound is still very evident in the collection of tracks, especially in “Pienxa en Mi” and “50 Mil Piex.” The intention to pay homage to rhythmic patterns and beats steeped in New York’s hip-hop scene is evident, especially in “Los Cuervos,” where El Ferxxo and Granuja rap to the beat of rugged dusty boom-bap drums and brooding sample-driven loops which channel sounds produced by artists such as Wu-Tang Clan, Nas and Jay-Z. “Recreo” is another track where the Colombian artist’s versatility is clear, as he raps and channels the sounds of the genres that dominated in the late ’90s and early 2000s hip-hop scene.
Meanwhile, artists such as Cultura Profética, Grupo Firme, FloyyMenor and Gabito Ballesteros also dropped new music this week. Ronaldinho Gaucho’s album Camisa 10 is on the list of releases as well.
The most recent New Music Latin poll was topped by Yorghaki’s Antes De Que Sea Tarde with more than 75% of the vote. Which release this week do you think is best? Give these new releases a spin and vote for your favorite new Latin music release below.
Editor’s Note: The results of the weekly New Music Latin poll will be posted if the poll generates more than 1,000 votes. This poll closes at 11 a.m. ET on Monday, June 15.
