The Axxess Landmarks Half Marathon, in association with Princeton Security and Sportsmans Warehouse, has become one of Cape Town’s most popular road races and Sunday’s race, which takes runners past 25 iconic landmarks and institutions, should be no exception and has been boosted by the presence of multiple Two Oceans and Comrades Marathon champion, Gerda Steyn.
This year’s event has officially hit record registration numbers, drawing thousands of runners and walking enthusiasts from across the Western Cape and beyond to conquer the iconic 21.1 km course and 6 km fun run.
Already a part of South African sporting history, Steyn’s participation in the heritage-focused race is set to be a highlight. “It’s always good to be in Cape Town,” she said this week.

“I had to be here for various appointments and noticed that Landmarks would fall in the middle of my trip so I decided to enter. I have a few friends running it too. They always speak so positively about it, so I am excited.”
Steyn raced the 31km Sierra Zinal and Jungfrau Marathon trail races in Switzerland in August and September, finishing third behind top German trail athlete, Laura Hottenrott, in the latter.
“I am not running another marathon at the end of the year and this it is all just part of building towards next year,” Steyn added.

Although designated as this year’s featured landmark in the 21km circuit from the historic Western Province Cricket Club grounds on Avenue De Mist, the trendy steakhouse, the Barrister’s Grill, is unlikely to cause Steyn and other elites to pause for an early morning snack, although less competitive runners may be tempted to do so.
Perennial favourites, Rondebosch Common, the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, the University of Cape Town (UCT), and Mostert’s Mill all feature again on the 2026 circuit.
For Axxess, sponsoring one of Cape Town’s most cherished road races represents a natural extension of its core mission as an ISP: connecting people to what matters most.
“Running and internet connectivity actually share the exact same foundation—speed, consistency, resilience, and bringing people together,” said Dale Moulton, Chief Revenue Officer at Axxess, who will also be lacing up his running shoes to tackle the 21.1 km distance on Sunday.
“At Axxess, our passion extends beyond digital infrastructure into the heart of the communities we serve. Being part of the Landmarks Half Marathon alongside the incredible WPCC Running Club community allows us to foster real human connection. And having a powerhouse athlete like Gerda Steyn join us this year makes an already record-breaking edition truly unforgettable,” added Moulton.
Proceeds and community support from this year’s race will benefit Beth Uriel (“House of Light”), a Cape Town organization dedicated to offering a supportive home, vocational training, life skills, and emotional guidance to young men transitioning out of vulnerable backgrounds into independent adulthood.
And in the true spirit of community care, participants and spectators are encouraged to bring new or gently used toys to the start/finish line at the WPCC grounds where they will be donated to the local children’s hospital.
The half marathon gets underway at 06h00 with a 6km fun run starting at 06h45.
