International school tops global exam averages

Windhoek International School is celebrating the outstanding achievements of its class of 2026, following the release of the May 2026 International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme examination results.

On 6 July, more than 200 000 students worldwide received their results, placing the school’s 33 graduates within a vibrant global community of IB pupils.

The international school cohort achieved an impressive average diploma score of 31.3 points out of 45, significantly surpassing the global average among IB World Schools.

As the only school in Namibia to offer this prestigious programme, the Windhoek International School (WIS) continues to provide its graduates with one of the world’s most respected secondary qualifications.

WIS diploma programme coordinator Swapna Sharma has expressed pride in the students’ accomplishments

“We are proud of what this diverse cohort of pupils has accomplished in one of the world’s most demanding school-leaving qualifications.

“These results reflect not only academic achievement, but also resilience, curiosity, and the ability to communicate effectively.”
