Kaizer Chiefs confirmed transfers: FIVE exits, THREE arrivals

Kaizer Chiefs have released a quintet of senior stars and also welcomed a few new faces to Naturena. Here’s a recap of events.

Kaizer Chiefs wave goodbye to five stars, welcome two

Happy Mashiane, George Matlou, Aden McCarthy, Gaston Sirino and Tashreeq Morris are all no longer on the playing staff at Kaizer Chiefs. Mashiane and Matlou have battled injury issues, and 22-year-old Aden McCarthy has moved to Azerbaijan, while Sirino and Morris, both the ‘wrong’ side of 32, are deemed surplus to requirements. Goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner and defender Thabo Moloisane have arrived to start their work at the club. It’s believed that the club will also turn Khanyisa Mayo’s loan move into a permanent one.

Is Duba for sale?

Wandile Duba is arguably the best finisher at Kaizer Chiefs, and he’s popular among fans as a result. Now 22 years old, the versatile attacker can play through the middle as a number 9. He can also operate as a wide player in a front three. A return of three goals and two assists in 18 league outings last term isn’t brilliant, but he does have a knack for scoring spectacular goals, often in big games. Will that attract interest from elsewhere in South Africa or abroad? If so, would Chiefs entertain big offers for Duba?
