Nemostars Volleyball Club’s journey in the Africa Club Championship comes to an end in the Round of 16.
Nemostars fell to Kenya Port Authority (KPA) 1-3 in the ACC encounter at BK Arena, Kigali on Wednesday morning.
It was a disappointing day that Nemostars had their worst performance of the tournament where it mattered most.
Nemostars came out of the blocks early opening a four-point lead (10-06) but as the game grew they lacked the composure as their house collapsed late in the period (25-21).
In the opening frame, Nemostars gave away four points from the service box and were blocked twice. That and the poor reception of the ball were Nemostars undoing.
Nemostars levelled matters in the second period. The Ugandan side opened a nine-point (20-11) lead but somehow struggled to kill it off before triumphing (25-22).
The coach made a change bringing on Mark Omara for Frederick Mujinya who had struggled for the biggest spell of the game. The youngster came on and took up the responsibility well.
In the third quarter, it was a closely contested game as both sides went toe to toe until KPA edged it late (25-22). Once again Nemostars were poor on the reception thus failing to handle the pressure on the ball.
Nemostars struggled with KPA’s offence thus falling in the final set by two points (25-23).
Nemostars will now switch attention to placement position since they failed to beat their best position which is sixth as the grand stage.
